Graffiti Designs as a Form of Expression

thumbs_039-disney-xd-footballGraffiti street art is an urban phenomenon with different persons. In its primary form, which was the “tagging”, it reflected the anxiety of an adolescent as he faces the city. The angry young boys and girls leaved their mark with ease to an apartment of a building in plaster up to marble neoclassical monuments. In its most interesting form, graffiti is a street art of young artists with aesthetic education. Some of them seem to respect the specific characteristics of the ruined buildings much more than the usual architectural restorations.

Graffiti designs were proliferated in cities in crisis. In the New York of the 70’s , to London with Thatcher as a politician, to the modern Sao Paulo, are only some examples of towns, which were flooded by graffiti designs when they have started to face some economic problems and huge unequal societies. Similarly, in other cities, graffiti designs capture the cultural crisis in modern societies, the disintegration of the public space and the deadlocks of young people. However, graffiti designs are definitely an expression of hope. In the past, the spread of this kind of street art was associated with the emergence of new cultural expressions, such as hip hop in New York or punk in London, which renewed the identity of the decadent metropolis. Graffiti are for sure primary expressions of an emerging bourgeois culture and they are proving that the younger generation is angry, often irreverent, but also restless creative.

To sum up, graffiti designs is one of the most creative forms of art and if you think that the only thing that is artists use is spray, you will realize how difficult it is to create such designs. The only thing that needs to be mentioned is that graffiti designs should be made legal.
